U.S. Solar Market Insight 2011 Year-In-Review Report
March 29
SEIA and GTM Research released the U.S. Solar Market Insight 2011 Year-In-Review on Monday, March 12, showing a record quarter and year for U.S. solar installations. The U.S. solar industry more than doubled its installation of solar capacity in the 4th quarter of 2011 from the previous year. Similarly, U.S. solar capacity installed in all of 2011 was more than double the levels seen in 2010. SEIA and GTM Research hosted a webinar to go over the findings of the 2011 Year-In-Review and answer questions about this dynamic, rapidly changing industry.
The presentation can be found here. Listen to the webinar recording.
This one hour webinar will introduce the participant to NFPA 70E: Electrical Safety In The Workplace. Participants will gain the necessary knowledge to assess their workplace's electrical safety program and immediately begin to implement the key requirements of the Standard. Topics to be covered include: legal status of NFPA 70E, OSHA and NFPA 70E, the 5 most important requirements, the 3 most misunderstood requirements, key changes in the 2012 version, and how to implement 70E on a budget.
The webinar will be presented by Keith Gershon, CSP, a private safety consultant specializing in electrical safety and hazardous energy control (Lockout / Tagout) program development, training, and risk assessment. Keith is also a member of three NFPA Technical Committees.

The Army Energy Initiatives Task Force - Installing Solar on Army Land
Feb. 7
The Army Energy Initiatives Task Force (EITF) was recently formed to serve as a central managing office for collaboration with the private sector to invest in cost-effective large-scale renewable energy projects. The EITF will serve as a one-stop shop for the industry to work with the Army and help it increase energy security, generate revenue and cost savings, and meet its goal of 25% of renewable energy by 2025. Register for this webinar to learn about the Army EITF and how your company can participate in future Army solar projects.

Solar in Schools: Employing the Solar Master Plan Approach
Feb. 2
This webinar will present KyotoUSA's Solar Master Plan (SMP) concept for helping schools meet their renewable energy goals. This volunteer-based organization led by Tom Kelly successfully developed SMPs for three East Bay public school districts with technical assistance from the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The webinar will also include contributions and observations from Clyde Murley, an independent solar consultant who helped write Chapter 6 of the SMP, and who will share key lessons learned based on his experiences managing numerous commercial-scale solar PV procurement processes for both schools and colleges. Register for this webinar to learn more about the KyotoUSA project for bringing solar to public schools.

Record Quarter for US Solar Installations: Q3 Solar Market Insight Report 2011 Overview
Dec. 20, 2011
SEIA and GTM Research released the U.S. Solar Market Insight: Q3 2011 on Wednesday, December 14 showing a record quarter for solar installations. The U.S. solar industry installed 449 MW of capacity in Q3 2011, surpassing the previous record set in Q4 2010 and more than all capacity installed in 2009. Through the first three quarters of this year alone, over 1,000 MW of PV was installed, marking the first time the U.S. has added over 1 GW of solar capacity in a single year.
While overall installations are up, some market segments and states did better than others and the year has been difficult for manufacturers. Utility installations soared and residential began a comeback but commercial installations dropped significantly as demand faltered in California, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Going forward, there are many questions facing the solar industry including the outcome of efforts to extend the Section 1603 Treasury program and the trade dispute between the U.S. and China.
Join SEIA and GTM Research for this free webinar as they review the findings of the Q3 report and answer questions about this exciting, rapidly changing industry.
Speakers:
Justin Baca, Senior Research Manager, SEIA
Shayle Kann, Managing Director of Solar, GTM Research

Installer Safety 101
Sept. 29, 2011
As the solar industry continues to experience substantial growth, customers, employers, and regulators are increasingly focused on proper safety measures for solar installers. Safety is a critical component of any installation, and development of a company safety program is key to remaining compliant with state and federal regulations. Knowledge of these regulations, along with development of a safety program, is increasingly important to remain competitive in the solar installation market.
Please join SEIA and the DOE Solar Installer Training Network for a webinar to learn:
1. The basics of solar installation safety.
2. The federal regulations that apply to solar installations.
3. The basics of developing a company safety program.
This webinar is presented by the SEIA Installer Safety & Workforce Development Task Force, and is the first of a planned series of webinars. This webinar is presented in association with the Interstate Renewable Energy Council as the National Administrator of the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Installer Training Network.
The presentation can be found here. Listen to the webinar recording: Part A | Part B. We apologize for the technical difficulties experienced during the webinar.
