SEIA's Government Affairs staff is continually working with Congress and the Administration to advocate for policies beneficial to the solar industry. Currently, we are focused on several key areas:
Policies that cut taxes, attract investment and keep America competitive
- Enhance the solar investment tax credit by extending the Section 1603 Treasury Program.
- Establish domestic manufacturing incentives for solar technologies.
- Modify the tax code to facilitate new investment in solar energy.
Policies that support financing of solar projects
- Reform and fund the Department of Energy Loan Guarantee Program.
- Establish a Clean Energy Bank.
- Secure long-term clean energy contracting authority for federal agencies.
Policies that promote market access, remove regulatory barriers
- Improve FERC policies, including transmission planning, cost allocation, wholesale distributed generation and renewables integration.
- Represent solar in the development of a clean energy standard.
- Ensure proper characterization of and requirements on solar technologies in national building, fire and safety codes.
- Establish and support smart permitting processes for solar development on public and private lands.
- Ensure solar access for all Americans (eliminate HOA restrictions for solar property, streamline paperwork and establish interconnection standards).
