72% of online adults in the U.S. use social networking sites, representing a huge potential market for your solar business. Social media can help advertise your product and grow leads, but it can also help brand you as an expert on solar in your community.
This webinar will help elevate your strategy on social media. Using the expertise of several SEIA member companies who are excelling at social media, we will examine how they have used social media to achieve their goals. We will also provide examples of real-world campaigns developed by solar companies and identify how to evaluate the success of your efforts.
Most companies have already created Facebook and Twitter accounts, but what about Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, YouTube, Google+, LinkedIn or blogging? We will identify reasons why our guest solar companies have chosen the platforms they are on and why. We will also look at the different tools being used to help manage the workload and amplify your message.

David Almacy is a senior vice president in Edelman’s Washington, DC office. David brings over 15 years of experience at the intersection of government, media, public relations, marketing, politics and digital communications. Prior to joining Edelman, David was the White House Internet and E-Communications director under President George W. Bush. In that role, he managed online communications strategy, served as an official spokesman for Internet press and bloggers and acted as a liaison to the federal government Web manager community. He was also the primary owner of the White House website (WhiteHouse.gov) and spearheaded its comprehensive redesign in March 2007.
Jason Deelstra is the marketing director at Vivint Solar, one of the largest providers of solar energy solutions in the U.S. In this role, Jason handles and organizes marketing and advertising for the Vivint Solar brand, with the ongoing goal of developing a strategic marketing plan to increase brand awareness and drive sales. Before joining Vivint Solar, Jason worked as an account director at Vivint Inc., coordinated employees in the company’s marketing department, and managed every facet of the marketing process. Before the company rebrand, he acted as the director of marketing projects for APX Alarm. Prior to joining Vivint, Jason worked at LHM/Saxton Horne Advertising where he worked with national clients, including the University of Utah, the Utah Jazz, and Miller Motor Sports Park. He has also been involved in marketing efforts at The Larry H. Miller Group and the Brigham Young University ad lab. Through these positions he has gained extensive marketing experience, including buying and selling media and planning, organizing, and implementing ad campaigns.
Miguel Yupangco manages Mosaic’s digital media and has a background in corporate sustainability reporting. Transitioning to solar financing, he is a firm believer that accessibility and profitability will change the solar industry, propelling it in the mainstream. Utilizing his obsession with social media and all things digital, he loves to connect with like-minded individuals and spread the word about solar.
Susanna Murley is currently the digital media director at the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), a national trade association representing the 5,600 solar businesses that make up the solar industry. She is responsible for SEIA’s website, grassroots email outreach and social media strategies. Prior to joining SEIA, Susanna managed the website and social media at Planet Forward, a nonprofit, environmentally-focused media project at the George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs. In that role, she managed all user-driven content and launched and the Great Energy Challenge Blog in partnership with National Geographic, and several TV segments on Bloomberg TV. She has an M.A. in Environmental Resource Policy from George Washington University, an M.A. in English Literature from the University of Delaware and a B.A. from St Olaf College. She enjoys yoga and cycling.
Kenneth Gayles manages and produce content for SEIA’s many social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest, and others. He also coordinates and executes various grassroots actions, helps maintain SEIA’s website, and aids in communications efforts. Kenneth has an extensive background in politics, receiving his BA in Political Science from the University of Rochester and his MA in Government from American University’s School of Public Affairs. While earning his Master’s degree, Kenneth gained experience working at a lobbying firm and two nonprofit organizations.
