WASHINGTON, DC - 8minutenergy Renewables, LLC today announced that it has joined board of directors for the Solar Energy Industries Association® (SEIA), the national trade association of the U.S. solar energy. The nation's leading independent solar PV developer, 8minutenergy has over 1,100 megawatts (MW) in power purchase agreements (PPAs), has successfully built 260 MW and has 15,000 acres of land under contract.

“We’re pleased to welcome 8minutenergy Renewables to our organization and board,” said SEIA president and CEO Rhone Resch. “As one of the country's foremost solar PV developers, we look forward their expertise and perspective on the critical issues facing the solar industry.”

"The solar industry is at a key stage in its development, and SEIA is its leading voice," said Martin Hermann, chief executive officer of 8minutenergy Renewables. "We are looking forward to working with the industry's key advocacy body to jointly promote the development of green affordable energy for all Americans."

"It's critical for the solar industry to work together to support solar development,” said Tom Buttgenbach, president of 8minutenergy Renewables. “As the flagship advocacy body for solar, SEIA plays an important role in promoting the industry. As one of the country's leading solar developers, 8minutenergy looks forward to working with SEIA on the issues that will help electricity from solar become a significant component of the power mix for a clean and sustainable future."

America’s solar energy industry employs 143,000 workers at more than 6,100 companies, most of which are small businesses spread across the United States, making solar one of the fastest-growing industries in America. Part of this amazing growth is attributed to the fact that the average cost of a solar system has dropped by nearly 40 percent over the past two years. Today, there are more than 15.9 gigawatts (GW) of solar electric capacity installed in the United States – enough to power more than 3.2 million American homes.
