The company specializes in setting up power purchase agreements and massive utility-scale photovoltaic arrays. Its projects run hundreds of acres and operate as low-cost electric power stations, generally feeding electricity to major utilities. Since it started in 2009, the company has developed hundreds of megawatts of solar in California to help utilities meet strict state standards by 2020, and now the company is targeting power-starved markets where its low electricity price will win it business. The company says it is signing 30-year contracts to deliver electricity at 5.8 cents per kilowatt hour, which is the lowest generation price in California. That is less than half the price of electricity generated by natural gas in California, even though that fuel is currently at a record low price.
