OneEnergy Renewables is seeking regulatory approval in Maryland to build a 6 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) facility in Somerset County, Maryland. The Seattle-based company on Aug. 18 submitted to the Maryland Public Service Commission (PSC) an application for a certificate of public convenience and necessity (CPCN) to build the project, which is called the Ibis Solar Farm. The new facility will be located on a portion of a 55-acre parcel of land near the town of Crisfield. According to an environmental assessment that OneEnergy submitted with its application, the project will include 21,000 350-watt PV panels. OneEnergy estimated that the facility will cost between $15 million and $17 million, and will create about 50 temporary construction jobs and 20 additional jobs through the supply chain.
