Real Goods Solar, a national solar installation company, will participate in the GRID Alternatives Bay Area Solarthon this Saturday, July 21, in San Jose, installing free solar arrays for low-income homeowners.

Solarthon is an annual fundraiser and solar block party for GRID Alternatives, an Oakland-based nonprofit, that brings together hundreds of community volunteers, corporate sponsors like Real Goods Solar, and job trainees to install solar for an entire neighborhood in a single day. Real Goods Solar is also a subcontractor partner of GRID Alternatives, providing complete residential solar systems, including installation and permitting, at a reduced price, as well as a paid work opportunity for a qualified solar job trainee on each job.

“Employing high quality sub-contractors like Real Goods Solar helps us meet increasing demand and bring solar power to low-income communities in all corners of the state,” said GRID Alternatives Co-Founder and Program Director Tim Sears. “And by hiring job trainees, our partners also help us further our mission of giving solar job seekers a leg up in the industry.”
