Press Release

WASHINGTON, DC – Building on the progress of the White House’s Climate Action Plan, the Department of Energy (DOE) announced last week that it would make an additional $4 billion worth of loan guarantees available for renewable energy and energy efficient projects. Reacting to the news, Solar Energy Industries Association President and CEO Rhone Resch issued the following statement:

“Today, solar is the fastest-growing source of renewable energy in America. This growth can be attributed, in part, to smart, fair public policies such as the federal solar Investment Tax Credit (ITC). The ITC continues to drive growth in the industry and job creation across the country by creating certainty in the market for investors and project developers. To make the ITC even more successful, we are strongly urging Congress to pass Commence Construction language this year, which will create more certainty within the market and allow solar businesses nationwide to take advantage of the new DOE program.”
