Residential solar power has become increasingly affordable over the past few years as an environmentally friendly, cost-saving alternative to traditionally sources of energy. But the barriers to entry can still be too high for low-income communities, which is where solar non-profits like GRID Alternatives come in.
Greetings from the Hidden Valley Raceway in Darwin, Australia! It’s been a while since we last posted from Port Augusta – and a lot has happened. Since departing from the Southern coast, we ran an approximately 1250km mock race, camped in the Outback while driving through the Northern Territory, settled down in Darwin at the Racetrack, drove a few laps, and (mostly) completed the scrutineering process for the 2013 Bridgestone World Solar Challenge.
Within the next year, British shoppers will be able to waltz into an Ikea Corp. store, home to Malm beds and Dinera plates, and buy solar panels.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – A key new report offering a standardized approach to determining the benefits and costs of distributed generation (DG) was released today by the Interstate Renewable Energy Council, Inc. (IREC). After reviewing the report, SEIA Sr. Vice President Carrie Cullen Hitt issued the following statement:
California Solar Energy Solutions Provider Launches Guide to Help Consumers Get Started with Solar Power
Kurios Energy, a California solar power solutions provider for the Central Valley and Bay Area in California, announced today it is releasing a new guide to help consumers easily make the transition to solar power.
RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Virginia regulators are considering Dominion Virginia Power's proposed plan to increase the use of solar power.
ROCKFORD, Minn. -- David Schmidt has been intrigued by the idea of generating power from the sun for a long time, but he had never taken the next step.
In the cleantech sector, pretty much everyone knows the acronym RPS, for Renewable Portfolio Standards. Since the first RPS policy in the U.S., implemented in Iowa in the late 1990s, 30 states have passed similar policies to promote the installation of renewable energy projects and expedite penetration (overcoming the ambivalence or outright opposition of utilities) of renewable energy in electric power supply.
"For most of these states, they're looking at it for economic development and job creation," Ghassemi said, underscoring the reasons why solutions such as cost incentives and utility quotas haven't helped states like New Mexico catch up to California and New Jersey, an unlikely solar leader.
