According to new industry data, a growing sector of the U.S. solar energy industry has reached a major milestone, with 5 million square feet of building-integrated solar air heating collectors now installed in North America. Rhone Resch, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), says these systems represent 250 megawatts (MW) of thermal energy and displace nearly 100,000 tons of CO2 each year from the atmosphere.

WASHINGTON, DC – Did you know that solar energy in the United States is now generating enough electricity to power 2 million American homes, including the White House? Or that the payback on installing a home heating and cooling system (SHC) can be as little as four years? Would you be surprised to learn leading blue chip companies like Walmart, Apple, Costco, Kohl’s and IKEA are saving big bucks by installing rooftop solar? Or that just one utility-scale solar facility can power 170,000 homes?
WASHINGTON, DC – The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) today announced that Chip Bircher, longtime coordinator of the Department of Energy’s Utility Solar Water Heating Initiative (USH2O), will be joining SEIA’s Solar Heating and Cooling (SHC) Alliance.
CHICAGO, IL -- Speaking at the opening session of Solar Power International 2013 -- the largest solar trade show in America -- Rhone Resch, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association delivered the following remarks:
Good afternoon everyone. Welcome to Chicago. Welcome to SPI 2013. And welcome to the Big Leagues.
Learn how solar heating and cooling (SHC) can play a significant role in providing an economically viable and environmentally sustainable long-term solution to our daily heating and cooling needs.
With no end in sight to the federal government shutdown – and worries mounting by the minute about its impact on the U.S. economy – what can the private sector do to help spur job creation and economic growth in the future? Here’s one good idea: The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has just released a comprehensive new report outlining ways to create 50,250 new American jobs and save more than $61 billion in future energy costs by expanding the use of innovative and cost-effective solar heating and cooling (SHC) systems across the nation.
