Position Summary

The VP of Finance & Operations oversees the financial accounting, reporting and budgeting and internal operations of the Association.  The VP serves as SEIA’s chief financial officer and oversees the day-to-day activities of the finance, administration, office management, and information technology departments.  Reporting directly to the President & CEO and serving as part of the Association’s executive team, the VP acts as the Association’s senior-most operations staffer and is the primary staff liaison to the SEIA Board Treasurer and the Finance Committee. 

Core Duties & Responsibilities

 

Finance:
  • Tasks the Director of Finance with managing the daily accounting and is ultimately responsible for all aspects of financial management, accounting, budgeting, auditing, and taxes for SEIA.
  • Responsible for preparing the Treasurer to conduct her/his duties as Chairman of the Finance Committee and in reporting to the Executive Committee and Board of Directors.
  • Meets routinely with the Association’s investment advisor.
  • Plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates the Association’s fiscal function and performance.
  • Directs the annual budget development and delivery process by collaborating across the organization with budget managers and senior staff, compiling inputs, adjusting to meet organization-wide objectives and aligning the budget with the strategic plan, creating a narrative and working with the CEO to create the presentation of the budget to governance.
  • Participates as a strategic partner in the development of the Association’s plans and programs.
  • Represents SEIA on SETS Board of Directors to ensure fiscal health of both organizations. 
  • Enhances Association’s fiscal management by providing timely accurate financial reports, analysis thereof, budgets, and financial trends.
  • Develops and enforces policies, procedures and internal controls that will improve overall operations and effectiveness. Provides for sufficient controls to safeguard the Associations’ finances and assets.
  • Oversee Association’s annual independent financial audit.
  • Collaborate closely with the VP of Member Engagement to implement best practices in identifying new business development opportunities for the Association.
Administration & Office Management:
  • Supervises and provides guidance to the Office Manager / Front Desk support.
  • Supervises the coordination of the mail room and reception area functions.
  • Approves purchasing, office maintenance and fixed asset acquisition.
  • Serves as the primary liaison to SEIA office space broker, the property manager, landlord.
  • Coordinates, as necessary, with Director of HR for policy implementation and office environment decisions.
  • Approve ordering and maintaining office and breakroom supplies.
Information Technology:
  • Supervises the Director of Information Technology.
    Works with internal and external resources to set IT priorities, identify and implement new technologies, and ensure timely, accurate and reliable IT service to the staff.
  • Serves as the primary liaison between IT and program staff to ensure alignment in short-term and long-term priorities.
  • Ensures the security and reliability of the IT systems by coordinating the development and routine evaluation of policies and procedures and by engaging outside resources to test network security.

Professional Experience, Education & Other Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Masters degree AND CPA strongly preferred.
  • At least 7-10 of finance leadership experience required.
  • Non-profit and multiple-entity accounting experience preferred

Working Conditions

Work is in an office environment

Compensation Range

$185,000 - $215,000 annually, based on experience
