Safer, Faster, Cheaper: How SolarAPP+ Is Cutting Through Bureaucracy to Boost Solar Deployment

A residential solar home in Denver, Colorado.  More than half a million residential solar systems were installed in the United States in 2021, representing a 30% year-over-year uptick in installed solar capacity. This is great news for households looking to both stabilize and lower their energy costs, but for the thousands of local jurisdictions responsible for permitting and inspecting each and every system to ensure code compliance, this flood of new projects can quickly become a bureaucratic nightmare.

Seal the #AmericanEnergyDeal: Congress, It’s Time to Invest in U.S. Clean Energy

President Biden entered the Oval Office on the promise of a new energy economy that would revive economic opportunities for American workers, drive down costs and slash emissions. Now, a year and a half later, action is even more urgent. As the window of opportunity narrows for Congress to act, the time is now to cut an American Energy Deal.

Liberty and Justice: Solar Industry Commemorates Juneteenth

Today we celebrate Juneteenth, the anniversary of the freedom of Black Americans. While the United States declared that “all men are created equal” in 1776, Black Americans were enslaved until 1865 when news of emancipation spread across the nation and states not impacted by the Emancipation Proclamation ratified the 13th amendment. Today, 157 years later, Black Americans continue to face injustice, and in many ways, their liberty remains incomplete.

Bipartisan Lawmakers Representing Nearly 200 Million Americans Unite Against Solar Tariff Case

The Commerce Department’s baseless solar tariff investigation is front and center in the news, and political leaders are stepping up to protect their constituents and voice opposition.  In letters to President Biden, lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are urging the Department of Commerce to unfreeze the solar industry and immediately end the Auxin Solar tariff probe. In a telling sign, these lawmakers represent 190 million Americans, or 57% of the U.S. population.

Earth Day 2022: America’s Clean Energy Progress Under Threat

Earth Day 2021 and Earth Day 2022 couldn’t be more different. In 2021, the Biden administration announced its Build Back Better agenda and its plan to cut greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030. This year, while legislation is stalled, the very same administration imperiled its goal with an investigation that will not only impede solar and storage growth, but cause the United States to go backward on its climate goals.

“This is Wreaking Havoc on our Business”: Companies Share Stories About the Impact of the Auxin Tariff Petition

In a bewildering act that runs counter to President Biden’s climate goals, the U.S. Department of Commerce is investigating whether to impose another set of tariffs on the solar industry. The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) conducted an industry-wide survey to measure the catastrophic impacts of the Commerce Department’s decision. To date, more than 600 clean energy companies from across the country shared heartbreaking stories about their new reality as this investigation ripples across the industry and looms over their lives.

U.S. Solar Manufacturing Poised for Boom if Energy Tax Incentives Move Ahead

It’s well documented that clean energy tax incentives can launch massive private investment. It has also become clear that these incentives will transform U.S. solar manufacturing — putting us well on our way to achieving the Solar Energy Industries Association’s (SEIA’s) goal of 50 GW of domestic solar manufacturing capacity. This will only happen, however, if we seize the energy tax investment opportunity before us.

Invest in Clean Energy to Strengthen America’s National Security

As the world focuses on the Russian invasion of Ukraine and every day Americans start feeling the impacts of this conflict, there is growing consensus that we can no longer rely on foreign adversaries for our energy needs.  If we want to diversify our energy sources and reinforce American energy independence, encouraging solar and storage deployment and investing in domestic manufacturing is the best opportunity we have to double down on clean, and reliable energy.
