SEIA congratulates Sunrun on its announcement this week that it is expanding operations to the Badger State of Wisconsin. The company will open an office in Waukesha and plans to add more than 50 jobs in Wisconsin within its first year in the state, according to Sunrun spokeswoman Amy Heart.

This is Sunrun’s first venture into the Midwest, which is a burgeoning solar market that we expect to grow rapidly over the next few years. To accommodate this expected growth, SEIA recently announced the launch of a new Midwest State Committee, which will expand solar education and advocacy in the region.

As companies like Sunrun expand to the Midwest, SEIA wants to ensure the proper policy environment is in place to foster successful growth and solar procurement by homeowners and businesses.

“We applaud Sunrun for their leadership and we believe their decision to set up shop in Wisconsin will be a part of a much larger trend in the Midwest that will see the solar deployment rate increase dramatically. We have seen a great diversity of states ramp up their commitment to solar energy and we believe the Midwest will be a thriving market that creates new jobs and expand clean energy well into the future,” says SEIA president and CEO Abigail Ross Hopper.
