Position Summary

The Human Resource Director will plan, lead, develop, and coordinate the policies, personnel activities, and employee benefits of the Association, ensuring legal compliance and implementation of the organizations mission and talent strategy. This position is based at SEIA HQ in Washington, D.C.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

 

Talent and Culture Strategy and Leadership
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to understand the organization’s goals and strategy related to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Serves as the primary executive liaison to the Staff Solutions Task Force (SSTF).
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources; talent management; diversity, equity & inclusion; and employment law; applies this knowledge to communicate changes in policy, practice, and resources to upper management.
  • Plans, leads, develops, coordinates, and implements policies, processes, training, initiatives, and surveys to support the organizations human resource compliance and strategy needs.
  • Designs and implement company policies that promote a healthy work environment
  • Ensures that equity and inclusion is woven into all our talent-related activities
Oversight of Recruitment, Onboarding, Retention and Performance Management
  • Oversees staff development program providing opportunities for professional and personal growth for all staff.
  • Guides, provides coaching to, and participates with managers to facilitate performance, policy, disciplinary and other complex issues with employees.
  • Monitors performance improvement plans, works with Legal Counsel on investigations and terminations, governmental laws and regulations.
  • Identifies staffing and recruiting needs; develops and executes best practices for recruitment, hiring and talent management.
Oversight of Human Resources Policies and Systems
  • Administers or oversees the administration of human resource programs including, but not limited to, compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Serves as employee point of contact to address issues and process requests concerning HR policies, benefits, paid family leave and leaves of absence.
  • Reviews, monitors and ensures the organizations compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
  • Builds out and maintains an HR platform for staff, that streamlines all of SEIA’s benefit platforms and resources onto a single landing page.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Professional Experience, Education & Other Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 8-10 years of human resource management experience required.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of all functional areas of Human Resources.
  • Demonstrated deep commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Ability to implement creative, concrete, and pragmatic ways to address or prevent potential equity challenges and mitigate bias in the hiring process.
  • Proven presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Thorough understanding of Federal and State employment and labor laws.
  • Competent relationship, counseling, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Experience working in a multi-state environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Working Conditions

Work is in an office environment

Compensation Range

$110,000 - $120,000 annually, based on experience
