Looking for ways to get involved and make a difference? Here are some concrete actions you can take:
The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice Certification ProgramSEIA is proud to launch a first-of-its-kind platform to help companies earn certification for their work on critical diversity, equity, inclusion and justice issues. The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice (DEIJ) Best Practices Certification Program allows SEIA members to showcase their DEIJ progress and rewards their performance in various programs, trainings and resource development.
At SEIA, we believe that a diverse workforce creates a more resilient organization - one that supports a strong, equitable solar industry. We define diversity to include, but not be limited to, difference by race, ethnicity, religion, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, age, culture, ability, class, employment level, and political identity. SEIA’s definition of diversity is evolving and subject to expansion.
SEIA envisions an industry that is committed to fostering a culture of inclusivity at all levels. We aim to achieve this by encouraging openness and transparency about diversity issues and progress. We are developing strategies, programs, and tools that seek to equalize opportunities within SEIA and allow for discussing and sharing best practices within the solar industry as a whole. To enable our members and the broader industry to reach this vision, we have developed a variety of resources and tools.

We’re not sure where to begin, what should we do?
Read through the best practices guide and reflect on what your company might consider changing about their current practices. We encourage you to host an internal discussion at your company about your priorities, and then get involved through the DEIJ Leadership Council and Working Groups so you can get the latest information on new products, share resource gaps with us, and help spread the word about the important work SEIA is doing.
How do I sign up for a DEIJ Working Group?
You can sign up for any of the DEIJ Working Groups if your company is a member in good standing or you work for a partner organization that receives membership benefits (Watt level and above). Please contact [email protected] and your account manager will add you to the appropriate listserv so you can begin joining the meetings!
Is there a cost to join the DEIJ Working Groups?
There is no cost for current SEIA members. However, your company can support SEIA’s efforts through a sponsorship of the DEIJ Leadership Council. These funds directly offset costs for SEIA to develop tools and resources your company can use to further its DEIJ goals.
Please contact us at [email protected] if you have questions about SEIA’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice Programming or Resources.
America’s solar and storage industry is quickly transforming our energy system, creating new opportunities in every corner of the country. This rapid growth cannot be haphazard if we want to ensure equitable growth as part of this transition.
Health, Wealth, And Education: How SEIA’s Clean Energy Advocacy is Prioritizing Environmental Justice
Our energy systems are changing. For decades, communities of color and low-income communities have been systematically excluded from the benefits of energy development while, at the same time, bearing a disproportionate share of its pollution. The transition to clean energy represents a generational opportunity to reverse decades of environmental racism and build a more inclusive and just energy system that all Americans can participate in and benefit from.
While November is a traditional time to celebrate our veteran’s military service, it’s also a good time to lift up the contribution to the community so many make after their service is complete. Since 2013, veteran employment in the solar and storage industry has grown 63% from 13,192 veterans to 21,533 veterans in 2022.
