WASHINGTON, D.C. — More than 90 Arizona solar and storage businesses sent a letter to Senators Krysten Sinema and Mark Kelly today lauding the potential impact of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) on the state’s clean energy economy and urging Congress to pass the transformative legislation.

SEIA estimates that the bill will spark an additional 7 gigawatts of solar deployment in Arizona over baseline forecasts in the next five years, sending a clear signal to businesses that the market will remain strong.

“Clean energy just works for states like Arizona, which is positioned to benefit significantly from many of the provisions in the reconciliation package,” said Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association. “The long-term policy stability that this bill offers will undoubtedly attract hundreds of new businesses to Arizona and allow the 300 solar companies already there to expand their footprint with thousands of new jobs and billions of dollars of investment in the state economy. This is a no-brainer piece of legislation that will lower costs for families and support American energy at a time when we need it most.”

The 90 companies on the letter highlight the senators’ support of the solar industry, hard work crafting many pieces of the legislation and emphasize how critical it is for ensuring business stability in Arizona.

The letter focuses on the downstream economic benefits of a robust clean energy sector in Arizona. Electricity costs will shrink for businesses and families across the state, farmers and ranchers will have more opportunity to use solar to diversity their income streams, and Arizona can be a leader in strengthening America’s energy security.

Signatories include companies across the solar and storage value chain in Arizona, which ranks fifth nationally for installed solar capacity and supports 8,300 jobs statewide.
