Long Island has become a leader in renewable energy in New York State, the Eastern region and the nation with initiatives and milestones including the installation of Long Island's 5,000th solar roof and Long Island Power Authority's CLEAN Solar Initiative (CSI).

LIPA Chief Operating Officer Michael Hervey, Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and New York State Senator Owen Johnson, along with LIPA customers, solar industry professionals, and environmental leaders were on hand to celebrate a number of solar accomplishments, milestones, and new initiatives, which solidify LIPA as a leader in renewable energy.
