SEIA Congratulates California Governor-Elect Gavin Newsom

WASHINGTON D.C. – Today, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) congratulated Gavin Newsom on his successful campaign for governor in California.

Following is a statement from Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association:

"Governor-elect Gavin Newsom has shown he is committed to growing clean energy in California. The solar industry congratulates him on his election win. His leadership will be vital to implementing California’s 100 percent renewable energy goal and ensuring that Californians can continue to go solar. We look forward to working with him on this, and other policies, to grow solar in the near-term.”

California is the nation’s leader in solar energy, with 22,777 megawatts of solar installed, enough to power nearly 6 million homes. The solar industry employs 86,144 California
