Overall Strong Midterm Showing for Solar
|
|
On Tuesday, American voters elected a number of candidates that support solar energy and the benefits it brings to communities and economies across the country. From the passage of Question 6 in Nevada which raises the state's RPS to 50% by 2030, to newly elected and re-elected governors and members of congress, election night was positive for solar overall, but emphasizes the need for bipartisan policy solutions going forward.
It is clear that voters across party lines recognize the tremendous benefits solar energy brings to our economy, environment and grid, and want to see their representatives do more to grow the industry across the U.S. SEIA looks forward to working with all new and returning elected officials on policies that will expand solar markets, grow jobs and make solar's economic benefits available to all Americans.

SEIA Welcomes Nevada's Approval of 50 Percent Renewable Energy Target
Nevada voters made history last night in passing Question 6 to raise the state's renewable portfolio standard to 50 percent by 2030, doubling it from the current 25 percent target.
This vital ballot measure will help rapidly expand solar installations, create thousands of jobs and lower energy bills for Nevadans all over the state. The approval of Question 6 is more proof that solar has bipartisan support and Americans want policies to encourage its growth.
