WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following is a statement by Abigail Ross Hopper, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), on the U.S. Senate’s historic confirmation of President Biden’s Interior secretary nominee, Deb Haaland:

“Secretary Haaland’s confirmation is a historic moment for our country as we confront the existential threat of climate change. Secretary Haaland is a respected leader who will bring tremendous experience to managing America’s public lands, which hold considerable potential to address our energy and climate challenges. We look forward to working with Secretary Haaland on a range of issues, including responsible solar development on public lands and policies that localize the benefits of these projects.”
