PRESENTATION: ASCE 7-16: Changes to Calculation of Wind Pressure for Rooftop Solar

Share

This presentation was given at Solar Power International 2016's Expo Education, PV Technical Training:

Presenters:  David Banks, Principal, CPP Inc. and Joseph Cain, P.E., Chair, SEIA Codes & Standards Working Group

Recent changes in ASCE 7-16 include solar-specific wind provisions, with a new methodology for photovoltaic panel systems installed parallel to a pitched roof (commonly referred to as "flush mount" by the solar industry).  This new method is bounded by constraints on geometry and placement.  This session is focused on calculation of wind presssures for these systems, by current methods and by future ASCE 7-16.
