Speaker Q&A (208.83 KB)

Solar and storage companies have developed a growing interest in receiving compensation for reactive power in projects across the United States. While reactive power compensation has been available to numerous types of resources for decades, recent improvements in solar and storage technological capabilities, and a 2017 order from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, have combined to turn reactive power into an attractive and achievable revenue opportunity for solar and storage resources- particularly in MISO and PJM. In this webinar, SEIA members will hear from a panel with deep experience related to obtaining reactive power compensation in MISO and PJM, and will cover a wide range of topics, including but not limited to:

• Describing what reactive power is, and how solar and storage resources can obtain reactive power compensation in MISO and PJM;
• Describing recent developments that have led more solar and storage companies to pursue reactive power compensation;
• Providing an overview of the applicable FERC process associated with obtaining reactive power compensation; and
• Describing solar and storage-specific opportunities and challenges.

Speakers from SEIA, AWEA, Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough and Gabel Associates.
