Markus is the Central Regional Manager at SEIA, managing and supporting SEIA’s policy and advocacy efforts in Illinois, Michigan, and Texas. Prior to joining SEIA, Markus was the Director of External and Legislative Affairs for the Mayor of Waukegan in Illinois, where he covered economic development, infrastructure, climate change and sustainability. He also has ten years of experience with the Illinois Senate Democratic Caucus.  

Markus is on the board of the Aids Foundation of Chicago; an organization that for 35 years has led the fight to improve the health of people living with or vulnerable to HIV and chronic conditions and build movements towards achieving the end of homelessness and new HIV cases in Illinois. He also sits on Congresswoman Robin Kelly’s LGBTQ Task Force. Most recently Markus was chosen by Windy City Times 30 under 30 for substantial contribution to the Chicagoland LGBTQ community in the field of politics. 

Markus holds a bachelor's degree in History from Hampton University where he graduated with honors. In his free time, Markus loves to find new speakeasies or cocktail lounges, enjoy a nice playbill at the theatre and board game night with friends.
