Back to School Means Back to Savings for Solar-Powered School Districts

As students and teachers head back to the classroom this month, thousands of school districts across the United States are relying on solar and storage technologies to keep their power on and their energy bills in check. According to Generation180, the amount of solar installed at K-12 schools in the United States has tripled since 2015. Today, over 6 million students attend a solar-powered school, and it is not hard to see why so many school administrators are turning to solar.

Starting today, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is making the SEIA Residential Lease Disclosure form available to all companies to help consumers better understand the terms and costs of their solar leases. The form is also designed to help consumers choose among competitive providers.

National Solar Schools Census

Do you represent a K-12 school that has gone solar? The Solar Foundation (TSF) wants to hear from you! With support from the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Solar Outreach Partnership and the Solar Energy Industries Association, TSF’s National Solar Schools Census effort seeks to build the most comprehensive database yet of K-12 solar schools, understand the challenges schools face in going solar, and learn how solar has been used as a teaching tool in these schools.
