“This is Wreaking Havoc on our Business”: Companies Share Stories About the Impact of the Auxin Tariff Petition
In a bewildering act that runs counter to President Biden’s climate goals, the U.S. Department of Commerce is investigating whether to impose another set of tariffs on the solar industry. The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) conducted an industry-wide survey to measure the catastrophic impacts of the Commerce Department’s decision. To date, more than 600 clean energy companies from across the country shared heartbreaking stories about their new reality as this investigation ripples across the industry and looms over their lives.
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Tech giants, major retailers and other corporate leaders are making significant investments in clean energy and installed over 1,280 megawatts (MW) of new commercial solar capacity in the United States in 2019, the second largest year on record according to the latest Solar Means Business report. The annual report, released today by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), tracks both on-site and off-site installations and highlights the strong appeal of cost-saving solar energy for American businesses.
North Carolina is the South’s leader, and fourth among U.S. states, in using solar power to diversify its portfolio of electric power generation fuels. Three policy issues affect the future of North Carolina’s continued development of large-scale solar, which can be viewed in the attached document.

Last month, Americans saw tens of thousands of these billboards through almost 600 American Solar Energy Society (ASES) tours of homes, municipal buildings and businesses in 38 states, each demonstrating the use of clean, affordable solar power.
