Texas Governor Signs Series of Pro Solar Bills into Law

AUSTIN, TX and WASHINGTON, D.C. — Earlier this week Texas Governor Abbott signed a series of bills into law that will benefit the Texas solar industry, including SB 398, SB 63, and SB 760. These bills will help to clarify rules around decommissioning solar sites and strengthen consumer protection.

Solar Industry Urges Gov. Abbott to Extend Tax Abatement Program

AUSTIN, TX and WASHINGTON, D.C.—Today, the solar industry voiced support for the Texas House of Representatives for passing a 10-year extension of Chapter 312, a section of tax code that enables property tax abatements for companies bringing new investment and jobs to Texas. The legislature sent this tax abatement extension that includes renewable energy provisions to Governor Abbott for signature. PUCT Approves Settlement in El Paso Electric Rate Case

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following is a statement from Sean Gallagher, vice president of state affairs for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), on the unopposed settlement filed today to resolve El Paso Electric’s rate case, filed in Feb. 2017: “While this settlement is far from perfect, SEIA is pleased that the El Paso Electric Company was willing to negotiate with the many parties in this case. Under a new grandfathering provision, current solar customers in the market will now be able to enjoy their solar systems without fear of penalty.
