PUCT Approves Settlement in El Paso Electric Rate Case

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Following is a statement from Sean Gallagher, vice president of state affairs for the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), on the unopposed settlement filed today to resolve El Paso Electric’s rate case, filed in Feb. 2017: “While this settlement is far from perfect, SEIA is pleased that the El Paso Electric Company was willing to negotiate with the many parties in this case. Under a new grandfathering provision, current solar customers in the market will now be able to enjoy their solar systems without fear of penalty.

Diffusion of environmentally-friendly energy technologies: buy versus lease differences in residential PV markets

Utilizing a unique dataset from the residential PV market in Texas, the authors construct a financial model based in part on an NREL model that calculates the expected lifecycle costs and revenues of PV system ownership for the residential buying and leasing business models. The results confirm the ability of third party ownership to open up new market segments.

SEIA Comments on ERCOT 2014 LTSA

This winter, SEIA participated in a series of workshops held by ERCOT to discuss long-term transmission planning and ERCOT’s overall system assessment. On May 9, SEIA filed comments suggesting that ERCOT study a few solar-related scenarios when assessing its system and its direction over the next 10 to 20 years.
