This year, while legislation is stalled, the very same administration imperiled its goal with an investigation that will not only impede solar and storage growth, but cause the United States to go backward on its climate goals.
White House Takes a Step in the Right Direction with Final NEPA Rule
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) released a final rule today which strengthens environmental reviews of infrastructure, including solar and transmission projects on federal lands, under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The rule largely returns CEQ’s regulations to the pre-2020 status quo, and will aid in the development of renewable energy projects by again requiring agencies to consider indirect and cumulative effects of federal decision-making, including climate impacts.

SEIA Response to Anonymous AD/CVD Petitioners
Following an October 13, 2021 letter filed by a group of anonymous petitioners regarding anti-dumping/countervailing duties (AD/CVD) on solar imports from Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, SEIA sent a letter to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, articulating the industry's opposition to the baseless tariffs and responding to the petitioners' attacks on SEIA and the U.S. solar industry.
30% by 2030: A New Target for the Solar+ Decade

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) is increasing its goal for Solar+ Decade, aiming for solar to account for 30% of U.S. electricity generation by 2030. The organization’s previous goal was 20% by 2030, and this revision aligns with the Biden administration’s clean energy targets while accounting for the growing urgency to tackle climate change and reduce carbon emissions in the electricity sector.
Anonymous Solar Tariff Petitions Threaten the American Solar Economy
On August 16, an anonymous group of companies filed tariff circumvention petitions with the U.S. Department of Commerce. If allowed to proceed, these anonymous petitions would cripple the U.S. solar industry and ruin America’s plans to tackle climate change. The U.S. Department of Commerce must exercise its authority to reject these petitions.
