Sun At Work In Cancun

Hola! Greetings from Cancun where I saw immediate differences in this year's global climate talks from the moment I stepped off the plane. Instead of cold, cloudy Copenhagen, I was greeted by warm sunshine and a beautiful setting surrounded by the rich blue-green waters of the sea and bay. Last year I needed a parka; this year I need sunglasses. I'm hopeful improved weather is a good sign of an equally improved outcome. Delegates have a constant reminder (and distraction) to work through our shared challenges towards solutions.

Solar Market Insight Report 2007 Year in Review

In 2007, the U.S. solar energy industry saw a glimpse of a gigawatt future. There was signi?cant growth in the commercial and residential PV markets and a new utility-scale segment for PV emerged with the fastest growth of all segments representing over 15 percent of the annual U.S. installed PV capacity. The ?rst concentrating solar power plant was built in more than 15 years with dozens more utility-scale projects in the pipeline. The expansion of the solar water heating market continued. Thousands of U.S. jobs were created and billions of dollars were invested. And, the industry strengthened its presence in Washington and our united coalition support across the country.

U.S. Solar Industry Taking the Lead In Promoting Sustainable Business Practices

Today, leaders of the Solar Energy Industries Association’s Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Committee announced their 2010 priority issues. The committee met today in Anaheim, Calif., in conjunction with the 2009 Solar Power International conference. Solar energy is acknowledged to be pollution-free and reduces the emissions that cause global warming.
