FERC Affirms Decision to Hold Utilities Accountable for Interconnection Delays

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) affirmed its determination on key provisions in Order No. 2023, its landmark interconnection ruling. In July 2023, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) supported FERC’s proposed interconnection reforms and praised the commission for its efforts to promote accountability and penalize utilities and transmission owners that fail to respond to interconnection requests in a timely manner.

Solar Installations Skyrocket in 2023 in Record-Setting First Full Year of Inflation Reduction Act

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The U.S. solar industry added a record-shattering 32.4 gigawatts (GW) of new electric generating capacity in 2023, a 37% increase from the previous record set in 2021 and a 51% increase from 2022. According to the U.S. Solar Market Insight 2023 Year-in-Review released today by the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Wood Mackenzie, solar accounts for 53% of all new electric generating capacity added to the grid last year.

Petitioners Signal that Solar Modules Will be Excluded from Aluminum AD/CVD Investigations

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, petitioners in the U.S. Department of Commerce’s antidumping duty and countervailing duty (AD/CDV) investigations of aluminum extrusions filed comments regarding the scope of the investigation and which products would be subject to duties if the investigating agencies make affirmative determinations. The petitioners agreed with the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) that the scope of the investigations should exclude solar modules that incorporate aluminum extrusion components.
