SEIA held its inaugural Empowerment Series event last week at the Pillsbury Conference Center in Washington D.C. The event, Women’s Empowerment: Leaders in Solar Energy, brought together women leaders across all sectors of the solar industry to engage in meaningful discussion about new trends and policies. Attendees at the sold out event heard from expert panelists and speakers focused on educating, connecting and providing thought leadership for women in the solar industry.

“Keep striving to higher levels in your business, personal life, etc. Because being in this room full of women, I see not only that it’s possible, but that it’s happening and it’s growing.” - Shelley Cohen, CEO and Co-Founder, Alpha Solar Group.

“Be confident, raise your hand, be willing to put yourself out there and give an opinion.” - Leslie Barkemeyer, Deputy General Counsel, Sol Systems.

“We are at an inflection point in the deployment of clean energy technologies. It’s a great time for women to be starting a career in this space.” - Brandon Middaugh, Microsoft.

“For a half day event, the content was incredible. The value and the quality of the content was top notch. It was a great use of time.” - Anne Kirby, Alta Energy.

“This conference was evidence that women support each other. We share advice. We share experiences. Widely use that to your advantage.” - Katherine Jennrich, Senior Manager, Renewable Energy, Walmart.
