Zoo gets greener with solar power

Partnership brings solar power installation to Knoxville Zoo

The Knoxville Zoo has its first solar power installation, a series of 196 solar panels across the roof of the elephant barn of its Stokely African Elephant Preserve habitat.

The installation of the 50 kilowatt solar photovoltaic system was done in January by Knoxville-based energy contractor ARiES Energy (Alternative Renewable Innovative Economic Solutions for Energy).
