Illinois Clean Energy Boom Goes Bust as State Program Runs Out of Funding, Forcing Layoffs at Solar and Wind Businesses

CHICAGO and WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Illinois Power Agency (IPA) announced yesterday the close of all state renewable energy incentives, effectively ending Illinois’ renewable energy program. The end of incentives will force thousands of layoffs at renewable energy businesses across the state as Illinois’ solar market dries up.

Solar Industry Statement on Southeast Energy Exchange Market Proposal

Solar Industry Secures Win in Ameren Effort to Block Net Metering in Illinois

CHICAGO and WASHINGTON, D.C. — Over the past few months the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) worked alongside a coalition of solar and environmental groups to argue against Ameren’s attempt to end net metering in Southern and Central Illinois. Yesterday the Illinois Commerce Commission sided with the solar industry and effectively saved net metering for thousands of current and future solar customers in Illinois.

Arkansas Group Joins National Solar Trade Association, Strengthening Solar Advocacy in the Southeast

WASHINGTON, D.C. and LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade association for the U.S. solar energy industry, announced today that the Arkansas Advanced Energy Association (AAEA) is now an official SEIA state affiliate. AAEA becomes the 19th SEIA affiliate and builds on a growing network of solar advocacy groups in the Southeast region.
