SAN FRANCISCO, March 21, 2017 -- Sunrun (Nasdaq:RUN), the largest dedicated residential solar company in the United States, today announced that Massachusetts Senate Minority Leader Bruce E. Tarr (R-1st Essex and Middlesex) and Wilmington Town Manager Jeffrey Hull joined Sunrun employees for a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening of Sunrun’s second Massachusetts branch in Wilmington.

“Solar energy production is important for our economy and our environment, and Massachusetts is leading the way for sustainable progress on both fronts. Sunrun is a major contributor to that progress, and I’m pleased to join with its nearly 100 employees to celebrate this anniversary,” said Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr (R – Gloucester).

Sunrun’s approximately 3,000 employees serve roughly 135,000 homeowners nationwide. Today, nearly 100 Sunrun employees work in retail, operations, and sales for Sunrun in Massachusetts. Nationally, jobs in solar grew by 25% last year, with total employment reaching 51,000 people across the United States. Massachusetts was in the top five markets for solar in 2016, with 14,582 solar jobs based in Massachusetts.

“The growth of Sunrun in Wilmington is a direct reflection on the economic benefits of the forward-thinking energy leadership happening in Massachusetts,” State Representative Thomas Golden (D-Lowell) added.

“The Town of Wilmington welcomes Sunrun to our community and greatly appreciates their decision to establish their “green” technology business right here in Wilmington. Best wishes for a “sunny” future,” said Wilmington Town Manager Jeffrey Hull.

The celebration will include demonstrations on the inner-workings of Sunrun’s rooftop solar installations, and a tour of Sunrun’s Wilmington branch.

“We are thrilled that Massachusetts homeowners’ enthusiasm for rooftop solar has enabled us to expand with a  second office in the state. At Sunrun, we are dedicated to partnering with our customers to make it simple to go solar and save money with the sun,” said Sunrun’s Northeast General Manager Ed Steins.
