Position Description

The Senior Marketing Manager reports to the VP of Business Development. This position supports revenue generation by creating awareness and demand for SEIA’s company membership, event registrations, event sponsorships, and other revenue generating products and services.

The Senior Marketing Manager will also work with the Communications, State Affairs and Federal Affairs teams in order to create effective messaging around recent and ongoing SEIA advocacy work that results in pro-solar policy and the correlation in solar revenue growth as a benefit to SEIA membership.

Responsibilities

Conduct Market Research

The Senior Marketing Manager is responsible for obtaining market research and business reports that identify current trends in the renewable energy trade association niche and the needs and desires of solar and storage companies. Using this information, the Senior Marketing Manager shall create a target audience, create representative personas, and build campaigns and promotions aimed at this group of potential members. Secondarily, the Senior Marketing Manager will build mini campaigns around SEIA events to attract registration and sponsorship.

As part of the research process, you will also collaborate with the membership sales team to uncover insights and strategies to develop and implement marketing and branding strategies for new and existing products, internally and externally.

Implement Marketing Strategies

The Sr. Marketing Manager is responsible for the planning and implementing of marketing strategies. This may include creating sub-brand images, reaching out to new target audiences and creating a budget to cover all necessary expenses. You will spearhead the strategic and tactical execution of marketing campaigns with support from the communications team, including design of test/control segmentation, and implementation of tests.

The Sr. Marketing Manager must work closely with SEIA’s membership sales team; enabling them to meet their sales objectives by providing their membership retention and new member sales activities with appropriate tools, materials and presentations.

Conduct Performance Analysis

The Sr. Marketing Manager shall increase SEIA’s number of company members and the revenue generated by company membership dues and associated revenues such as sponsorship by developing marketing plans and programs for each level of membership and for specific events and then directing promotional support.

In follow-up the Sr. Marketing Manager must also analyze the campaigns to determine if they are successful or require modification.  You should understand key marketing performance metrics and tracking tools to provide market research, forecasts, competitive analyses, campaign results, and membership trends in order to translate results into actionable.  This role requires follow-up tracking of campaigns, results reporting, analysis, and recommendations.

  • Knowledgeable on principles, practices and techniques of marketing strategies
  • Experience analyzing data
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Budget and cost analysis experience
  • Knowledge of social media platforms
  • Project management experience
  • Experience running large scope projects with cross-over departments and large teams
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) certified preferred but not required
  • Experience with Salesforce.com or similar CRM, MS Project; expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Proficiency with Pardot or other lead nurturing software is preferred but not required
  • Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and be a team player
  • Ability to travel required. Must have a can-do attitude and interest in advancing clean energy in the U.S.

Travel Requirement

This position is based in Washington D.C. and requires occasional travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business or a related field
  • 5+ years of marketing, consulting or general management experience

Compensation

SEIA compensation is competitive and will commensurate with experience.  This position offers a base compensation with the opportunity for incentive compensation based on achieving sales targets.
