Position Summary

SEIA seeks to hire a manager to support SEIA’s standards development efforts. This professional’s primary responsibility will be to convene and guide groups to consensus language for solar practice standards that may support a certification program. The primary role of this new position will be to implement SEIA’s ANSI-approved (pending) standards development processes and related certification activities as relevant to area assigned, initially for the residential and commercial solar segments. 

The ideal candidate would have experience in leading collaboration and consensus activities among varied interests and stakeholders.  This individual will organize and implement SEIA’s standards processes and related activities, with the direction and guidance from leadership.  This candidate should be an excellent communicator who understands and helps support SEIA’s mission and goals. As a key member of SEIA’s Technical Services team, this position will play an essential role in the success of SEIA and the solar industry. This role reports to the Senior Manager of Standards.

Core Duties & Responsibilities

  • With prioritization from leadership, establish or re-form, and manage SEIA member working groups and standard technical committees to develop work products for publication.
  • With guidance from leadership, explore and assess the opportunity and programmatic elements to build compliance programs based upon published documents.
  • Work with SEIA staff, external organizations, stakeholders, and members throughout the process and provide regular updates to SEIA’s Standards Development Executive Administrator.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key external stakeholders to learn about and assess new standards topics and ideas.
  • Serve as a key team member in developing and executing on Technical Services’ strategic development plan.
  • Uphold and actively support SEIA’s equity, diversity, and inclusion principles in all aspects of responsibilities.
  • Comply with SEIA’s employee policies and requirements and professionally represent SEIA.
  • Other responsibilities as related such as webinar or event development, member and industry updates, and as defined by Technical Services leadership.

Professional Experience, Education & Other Qualifications

  • Proven ability to develop and cultivate relationships with external stakeholders .
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (technical, engineering, business/organizational development, or similar) required; other degrees may be acceptable based on necessary job experience requirements. Advanced degree helpful but not required.
  • 3+ yrs. experience working with or for standards development organizations, businesses, technical professionals, or with other entities in a consensus development setting or managing group convening programs.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office and tools or similar enterprise software tools 
  • Solar-related experience helpful, but not required.

Working Conditions

  • This position is intended to be remotely-based; therefore, reliable internet and communication services are required. Some travel is required to fulfill the position responsibilities; approx. 2-4 trips/year.

Compensation Range

$65,000 - $75,000 annually, based on experience, and excellent benefits package.
