Prospects for New Jersey Solar Bill Looking Bright

The New Jersey State Senate passed a bill, by a 24-12 margin, to increase the obligations for the purchase of Solar Renewable Energy Credits (SRECs). The measure was sponsored by solar champions Senator Bob Smith and Senator Christopher “Kip” Bateman. With a companion bill introduced by Assembly members Wayne DeAngelo, Tim Eustace and David Rible, the prospects for a two house passage of the legislation look bright.

SEIA held its inaugural Empowerment Series event last week at the Pillsbury Conference Center in Washington D.C. The event, Women’s Empowerment: Leaders in Solar Energy, brought together women leaders across all sectors of the solar industry to engage in meaningful discussion about new trends and policies. Attendees at the sold out event heard from expert panelists and speakers focused on educating, connecting and providing thought leadership for women in the solar industry.

The White House Takes Action on Renewable Energy Storage

President Obama announced this morning that he is putting forth actions that will accelerate grid integration of renewable energy and storage. This announcement comes hours before the White House hosts a Summit on Scaling Renewable Energy and Storage with Smart Markets. Regulators, power companies, developers and others will come together to promote better grid integration for renewables and discuss efforts for energy storage and other flexible resources.

Urban Grid & Universal Renewables complete Phase 1 of a 1,228 kW portfolio of rooftop solar systems for Friendship Public Charter School in Washington D.C.

Urban Grid Holdings, LLC (Urban Grid), a leading developer and financier of solar projects throughout the United States, has announced the completion of three projects totaling 511 kW of solar energy in Washington D.C. These three projects represent the first phase of a 1,228 kW portfolio on seven Charter schools, with the remaining installations to be completed in early summer.

Quarterly SMI Report Shows Just How Much Solar is Growing

Greentech Media (GTM) and SEIA's 2016 Q2 SMI report makes it clear that the solar industry's upward trajectory is no longer shadowed by other forms of electric generation. Baker Administration Listens & Leads on Implementing NEM Law

Last week the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities (DPU) issued an important ruling on implementing the state’s recently passed net metering law.On April 11th Governor Charlie Baker signed legislation that increased the Bay State’s net metering caps, preserved full retail rate net energy metering (NEM) for some classes of customers and established a new reduced credit rate for some solar projects.
