Clean Energy Collective Awarded 6 Xcel Energy Solar Gardens

Clean Energy Collective (CEC) has been awarded six community-owned solar gardens as part of Xcel's Solar*Rewards Community program, totaling 2.5 MW of distributed power generation. Through the new program, Clean Energy Collective will construct and maintain solar arrays, known as solar gardens, in centralized locations across the state.

The Corner Brewery in Ypsilanti will be hosting a ribbon-cutting reception Wednesday to celebrate the completion and launch of its $250,000 “Green Brewery Project.”

AnnArbor.com previously reported that with the installation of nearly $345,000 worth of energy-efficient devices and systems, the Arbor Brewing Company and the Corner Brewery, became Michigan’s first solar breweries.

On August 15, 2012, at 8 a.m., Colorado’s Xcel utility opened up its registration for a new solar gardens/virtual net metering program. It took just 30 minutes to shut the doors on applications. The utility had received 13.5 MW in those 30 minutes, more than triple the 4.5 MW allowed. Solar photovoltaic (PV) installations in the Americas more than doubled in the first half of 2012 (1H 2012) and will reach nearly 4.3 GW for the year. Solar PV installations rose more than 120% in the Americas in the first six months of 2012, according to IMS Research’s latest quarterly report, to reach 1.7 GW. That compares to 750 MW in the 1H 2011.
