SEIA Announces Support for ‘New Energy for America Act’

Saying it will provide a big boost to the U.S. economy, while also helping to fight pollution and climate change, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) announced its support today for legislation by Rep. Mike Thompson (CA-5) to extend the Investment Tax Credit (ITC) for both residential and commercial solar installations.

SEIA Wins Prestigious AIVA Communications Award

Winning in the category of “website activism,” the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) received a prestigious 2015 Gold Communicator Award from the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) as part of its 21st annual worldwide awards competition. The award goes to sites that “encourage or promote change and public involvement.”

SEIA Supports Legislation to Increase Use of Renewables by Federal Government

Saying it will “benefit both the economy and environment,” the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has announced its strong support for legislation introduced by Sen. Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), allowing the General Services Administration (GSA) to enter into 30-year renewable energy power purchase agreements (PPA). The GSA is an independent agency which manages and supports the basic functioning of the federal government, including procurement. Under current law, only the U.S. military can enter into power purchase agreements for longer than 10 years.

National RES Bill Draws Strong Solar Industry Support

Calling it important to America’s energy future, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) announced its strong support today for legislation to create a national Renewable Electricity Standard (RES). Introduced by U.S. Senators Tom Udall (D-N.M.), Edward Markey (D-Mass.), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) and Mazie K. Hirono (D-Hawaii), the bill will help to create thousands of new American jobs, save consumers and businesses money and reduce pollution by requiring utilities to generate 30 percent of their electricity from renewable energy sources by 2030

SEIA Applauds Signing of Major Solar Legislation in Georgia

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal has signed into law consensus legislation which will make it easier and more affordable for homeowners, businesses, churches, schools, nonprofits, military facilities, and police and fire departments to install rooftop solar systems across the state. The Solar Power Free Market Financing Act is considered an important victory for property rights supporters, as well as solar advocates – and represents a bellwether of change in Georgia.

Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), the national trade association of the U.S. solar energy industry, announced today that SunLink Corporation, a leading commercial photovoltaic (PV) mounting system and solar project solutions company, has joined SEIA's board. SunLink, a California-based company, is a leader in driving the innovations that make solar easier, safer, more reliable and less expensive to install. Coalition Praises Progress Made on Massachusetts Solar Energy Roadmap

Boston - The Mass Solar Coalition, an alliance of solar and clean energy industry organizations, businesses and solar and environmental advocates, commended the work of the Net Metering and Solar Task Force, which sent a final report to the State Legislature Friday with recommendations on the future of solar policy in the Commonwealth.

Solar Industry Makes Commitment to Employ 50,000 Veterans by 2020

As part of Joining Forces, an initiative launched by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden to rally support for U.S. service members, veterans and their families, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) today committed to having 50,000 veterans working in solar by 2020. The First Lady shared the news at an event this afternoon in Manassas, Virginia, which was part of a commitment made by several high-growth sectors of the U.S. economy, including solar.
