New York Planning to Expand Use of Solar Hot Water

WASHINGTON, DC - In a move that’s expected to increase the use of solar hot water systems across New York, the state’s Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) is expanding its Solar Hot Water Program statewide to include projects that displace hot water produced by heating oil, natural gas, propane and wood, as well as projects that displace electricity. SEIA Applauds Solar Commitment by Massachusetts Leaders

BOSTON, MA - In a major address at PV America, which annually brings together solar manufacturers, installers and service providers to discuss new technologies, innovations, research and policy that is driving the $13.5 billion a year U.S. photovoltaic (PV) industry, Massachusetts Secretary of Energy and Environmental Affairs Matthew A. U.S. Installs 6.2 GW of Solar PV in 2014, Up 30% Over 2013

BOSTON, MA and WASHINGTON, DC - Applauding a record-breaking year, GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) today released the U.S. Solar Market Insight 2014 Year in Review report, the definitive source of installation data, forecasting and policy analysis for the U.S. solar market. Newly installed solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity for year reached a record 6,201 megawatts[i] (MW), growing 30 percent over 2013’s total.

SEIA Welcomes Pennsylvania Governor's Solar Initiatives

WASHINGTON, DC - As part of his administration’s 2015-2016 fiscal year budget, Gov. Tom Wolf is asking the state legislature to provide $50 million to relaunch the popular Pennsylvania Sunshine Solar Program.  Rhone Resch, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), said the program will help to create new jobs and expand the use of clean, affordable solar energy across the Keystone State.

SEIA Applauds Decision to Veto Anti-Solar Bill in West Virginia

West Virginia Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin has vetoed legislation, HB 2201, which could have jeopardized the future of rooftop solar in the state by rewriting West Virginia’s net-metering policies. In announcing his decision, the Governor said the bill contained technical errors.

Duke Study: Solar Helping to Drive North Carolina Economy

A new report from Duke University, The Solar Economy: Widespread Benefits for North Carolina, found that public policies such as North Carolina’s Renewable Energy Portfolio Standard and Investment Tax Credit have made North Carolina first in the south and fourth in the nation for installed solar investment, creating jobs and boosting the economy across the state.

Nevada Posts Impressive Gains in Solar Employment

WASHINGTON, DC – According to a new report by The Solar Foundation, Nevada’s solar industry employment grew 146 percent in the past year, allowing it to rise to 7th in number of solar jobs by state and 1st in per-capita solar jobs. Rhone Resch, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) said that the big jump in employment is the result, in part, of pro-growth policies supported by Senator Harry Reid and Senator Dean Heller.  The state added 3,500 solar jobs over the previous year.

Massachusetts Shows Big Gains in Solar Employment
