SEIA, Vote Solar Point to Solar’s Continued Price Declines
The average cost of going solar in the United States continued its rapid decline in 2013 and the first half of 2014, according to a new study from the Department of Energy’s Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. Two leading solar advocacy groups, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) and Vote Solar, applaud the report findings as the latest indicator that affordable solar energy is ready to power our new energy economy.

SEIA Applauds University’s Decision to Expand Use of Solar
Calling it a win for both the economy and the environment, Rhone Resch, president and CEO of the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA), today applauded a decision by the University of California to significantly expand its use of solar energy. As part of an ambitious plan to become carbon-neutral by 2025, university officials this week signed an agreement to purchase the electricity generated by 80 megawatts (MW) of solar – approximately 200,000 MW hours annually.
New Report Shows U.S. Solar Industry Nearing 16 GW of Installed Capacity
The United States’ solar market hit a major milestone in the second quarter of this year, with more than half a million homes and businesses now generating solar energy. According to GTM Research and the Solar Energy Industries Association’s (SEIA) Q2 2014 U.S. Solar Market Insight Report, the U.S. installed 1,133 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaics (PV) in the second quarter of this year.

SEIA Commends Verizon Plans to Expand Use of Solar
Verizon Communications Inc., a global leader in delivering broadband and other wireless and wireline communications services to consumer, business, government and wholesale customers, today announced plans to nearly double its capacity to generate clean, reliable and affordable solar energy. This year, Verizon will install 10.2 megawatts (MW) of new solar systems at eight Verizon facilities located in five states, including California, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York.
New York Praised for Statewide Solar Initiatives
Saying it would enhance regulatory certainty and bolster the investment climate in New York’s solar market, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) today congratulated Governor Andrew Cuomo’s decision to transition the state’s multiple solar programs into the single, statewide NY-Sun Incentive Program.
