Corporate Solar Investments Surge in United States, Report Finds

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Tech giant Apple is now the leading procurer of corporate solar in the United States with nearly 400 megawatts (MW) of total installed capacity, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association’s Solar Means Business 2018 report. This report puts the power of corporate commitments to clean energy on display, as the world’s largest and most-recognizable companies turn to solar energy in historic numbers.

House Leaders’ 100 Percent Clean Energy Plan Draws Support From Solar Industry

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three House Committee leaders today announced a plan to move the United States to 100% clean energy by 2050. Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Frank Pallone, Jr., Rep. Paul Tonko, Chairman of the Environment and Climate Change Subcommittee, and Rep. Bobby L. Rush, Chairman of the Energy Subcommittee revealed the plan at a news conference on Capitol Hill this afternoon.

Solar FlexRack Signs Supply Contract with Swinerton for 26.4 MWAC Solar Project

Youngstown, OH, July 23, 2019 – Solar FlexRackTM, a division of Northern States Metals and an innovative leader in photovoltaic mounting and solar tracker solutions, has completed a contract to supply a 26.4 MWAC solar power generation plant for Swinerton Renewable Energy (SRE). SRE will serve as the project’s engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) firm.

SEIA Commends New York State for Signing Historic Renewable Energy Mandate into Law

Washington, D.C.—Today, Governor Cuomo signed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act into law, one of the most aggressive renewable energy mandates in the United States. The historic law will require the state to procure 6 gigawatts of distributed solar by 2025 and for the state’s utilities to get 70% of its electricity from renewable energy by 2030. U.S. Solar Market Sees Best Q1 in History

BOSTON, Mass. AND WASHINGTON D.C., (June 18, 2019) – In the first three months of the year, the U.S. installed 2.7 gigawatts of solar photovoltaics (PV), making it the most solar ever installed in the first quarter of a year. With the strong first quarter, Wood Mackenzie Power & Renewables forecasts 25% growth in 2019 compared to 2018, and it expects more than 13 GWdc of installations this year.

Abigail Ross Hopper: Welcome to the Solar+ Decade

Recognizing the need for a clear vision and bold action, the Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has set a new goal for the solar industry: to make solar account for 20 percent of all U.S. electricity generation by 2030. To get there, SEIA has designated the 2020s the Solar+ Decade, recognizing the fact that the industry will need to both aggressively pursue policies to facilitate solar deployment while also collaborating with other technologies to make it happen.
